The Department of Pathology is one of the most fascinating branches of medicine. This department conveniently bridges clinical and non-clinical subjects within the medical curriculum. The faculty members impart learning with the use of modern audio/ visual techniques to enhance their lectures. Headed by an experienced Pathologist of national repute, the faculty is actively involved in curriculum advancement, diagnostic work and research. The personnel also regularly participate in weekly journal clubs and interdepartmental discussions. The national conferences that IQCMCH, Durgapur conducts help the faculty to involve in different forums. The Department is in the Ground Floor of College Academic Building.

The Department of Pathology is benefitted with various facilities for providing exceptional learning experience to the students.

  • Academic wing has two practical halls with strength of accommodating and training 90 students at a time
  • Audio/ visual techniques to enhance lectures
  • State-of-the-art museum exhibiting 300 surgical specimens and numerous detailed and highly informative charts/ graphs
  • The department provides diagnostic support to all the clinical departments. The diagnostic wing has sophisticated equipment including automated cell counter & tissue processor, fluorescent microscope with digital photo-micrographic attachment, cryostat, leica microtomes and advanced bright field research microscopes. It also includes four sub-sections that include Histopathology, Haematology, Cytology and Clinical Pathology.

Museum

  • A large and the beautifully organized museum with over 700 well-dissected and mounted rare specimens, whole autopsy specimens and unmounted specimens with several copies of catalogues available. Short descriptions have been printed and displayed with suitable microphotographs arranged system wise in cubicles. Innovative display on glass shelves and desks with Transillumination and good lighting arrangement.
  • Very convenient working / mounting area and specimen store available.
  • Many paintings of important personalities and events in the history of Medicine are aesthetically displayed in the hallway.
