Departments at IQ City Medical College
IQ City Medical College offers a well-rounded and integrated approach to medical education through its diverse academic departments, categorized into Pre-Clinical, Para-Clinical, and Clinical divisions. Each department plays a vital role in nurturing future medical professionals by providing a strong foundation in theory, practical skills, and patient care.
Pre-Clinical Departments
The journey of a medical student at IQ City begins with the Pre-Clinical departments, which lay the groundwork for understanding the human body and its functions. The Department of Anatomy enables students to explore the structure of the human body through cadaveric dissection and advanced anatomical tools. The Department of Physiology delves into the mechanisms that keep the human body functioning—from cellular processes to organ systems. Meanwhile, the Department of Biochemistry introduces students to the chemical processes underlying health and disease. These departments use interactive teaching methodologies and well-equipped laboratories to build a strong academic base.
Para-Clinical Departments
In the second phase of the medical curriculum, students engage with the Para-Clinical departments, which bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and clinical application. The Department of Pharmacology equips students with an understanding of drug actions, reactions, and therapeutic uses. The Department of Pathology focuses on the study of disease processes through tissue analysis, cytology, and histopathology. The Department of Microbiology trains students to detect and identify disease-causing organisms using microbiological techniques.
The Department of Community Medicine plays a vital role in promoting public health awareness and preventive healthcare through community outreach programs. The Department of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology introduces students to the legal aspects of medicine and the examination of medico-legal cases. These departments emphasize the importance of diagnostic skills and evidence-based medicine.
Clinical Departments
The Clinical phase marks the most hands-on part of medical education. IQ City Medical College has a robust network of Clinical departments, where students learn through real-life patient interactions. The Department of General Medicine trains students to diagnose and manage adult diseases, while the Department of General Surgery provides practical exposure to surgical procedures and emergency care.
The Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology covers maternal and reproductive health, and the Department of Paediatrics focuses on child healthcare and development. Other key clinical departments include Dermatology, Psychiatry, Ophthalmology, ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat), Dentistry, Anaesthesiology, and Radiodiagnosis. These departments are supported by modern infrastructure, simulation labs, and a multi-specialty teaching hospital that ensures comprehensive clinical training.
The Clinical departments are also involved in research, patient care, and interdisciplinary collaboration, giving students a holistic view of the healthcare system. The Pulmonology (TB & Chest) department adds to the institution’s strength in addressing respiratory diseases, especially in the post-COVID era.
