Dermatology
This is the branch of medicine that deals with the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases and conditions affecting the skin, hair, nails, and mucous membranes. Dermatologists are specialists trained to manage both medical and cosmetic issues related to the skin.
Common conditions treated in dermatology include acne, eczema, psoriasis, fungal infections, vitiligo, hair loss, nail disorders, and skin cancers. Dermatologists also perform procedures such as biopsies, cryotherapy, laser treatments, and minor surgeries for both diagnostic and therapeutic purposes.
The skin is the body’s largest organ and often reflects internal health, making dermatology important not only for treating skin conditions but also for identifying systemic diseases. Additionally, dermatology includes cosmetic care, helping individuals with aesthetic concerns like scars, pigmentation, and aging.
